1. Scope
Additional requirements specific to FTTH access networks built with passive optical splitting.
2. Normative requirements
2.1 All ODN connectors shall be APC polish. UPC components are prohibited in the ODN signal path.
2.2 Splitter placement (centralized or cascaded) shall follow the approved design; splitter ratio and insertion loss class shall be recorded per port at the FDH.
2.3 Drop cables shall use ITU-T G.657 class A2 or better; pre-connectorized drops are recommended and their additional connector loss shall be carried in the budget per FOI-S-005.
2.4 Each distribution terminal shall retain at least one unassigned spare port; FDH splitter output utilization shall be recorded at every change.
2.5 Turn-up verification per PON: output power per splitter branch at the FDH; received power at each activated ONT compared with prediction (±2 dB investigation threshold); and a filtered 1625/1650 nm OTDR baseline of the feeder and one representative distribution leg archived.
2.6 Work on shared (feeder/splitter) segments of a live PON requires an approved change window and customer-impact notification.
3. Acceptance criteria
A serving area is accepted when 2.1–2.5 are evidenced in the handover package and random-sample ONT power checks match records.
